Own operations

For its global operations, the Talanx Group aims to achieve GHG neutrality (including offsetting remaining emissions) by 2030 at the latest. Additionally, a reduction target for the Group’s annual Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions has been set, aiming for a 25% decrease by 2030 compared to the 2024 baseline year.

Key measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions include the use of electricity from renewable sources and the conversion of the Group’s vehicle fleet to drives or fuels with lower emission intensity. This is complemented by the optimisation of office space utilisation at German locations.

As an insurance company, the impacts from its own operations are limited, as more than 99% of total emissions are attributable to the value chain.

Offsetting

Since 2019, the Talanx Group’s primary insurance has been offsetting the GHG emissions reported for its own operations in Germany through the use of GHG certificates certified according to international standards. The commitment to offset these GHG emissions will be maintained in the future. (1) Information on the compensation projects currently in use can be found in the annual sustainability statement.

(1) Targets in our own operations do not generally refer to fully consolidated real estate and infrastructure investments held exclusively for investment purposes.
