Data processing in connection with our social media profiles takes place pursuant to Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR based on our legitimate interest in public relations and communication activities.
1. Data processing carried out by us
If you publish data relating to our social media profiles on the respective platform (e.g. comments, public messages / postings, videos, images, likes), these data are published by the relevant platform provider. We do not use these data for other purposes. We may share your contents published on the respective platform through our profile (e.g. through "retweets"), insofar as this function is offered by the social media platform.
We reserve the right to delete contents on our own profile, to the extent that this is possible for us and appears necessary. The deletion of contents published by you takes place in accordance with the usual procedures and policies of the respective social media platform.
We may communicate with you, as appropriate, via the social media platform in order to respond to your inquiries. We erase data arising in this connection once storage is no longer necessary, or we restrict the processing thereof in the event of legal retention requirements, insofar as erasure or restriction of processing is possible on the respective social media platform. Communication via social media platforms may potentially be insecure. You can also contact us at any time through other channels as described in this Data Privacy Information.
We do not use any enhanced advertising capabilities in connection with our profiles (e.g. interest-based, behavioural or location-based advertising) on social media platforms. We use exclusively aggregated, anonymised usage statistics that are routinely made available by the social media platforms.
If we process your data in the pursuit of legitimate interests, you may object to this processing on grounds relating to your particular situation. In this case we shall no longer process your personal data, unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds for processing that override your interests, rights and freedoms or the processing serves to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
If you wish to assert your rights to access and rectification, our data protection contacts will be pleased to assist you. In addition, you may, under certain circumstances, require the restriction of processing or erasure of your data or you may have the right to receive the data provided by you in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format.
You can reach our Data Protection Team at:
HDI AG ,
You have the option to address a complaint to the aforementioned Data Protection Team or to a data protection supervisory authority. The data protection supervisory authority with responsibility for our company is the Data Protection Commissioner for the State of Lower Saxony (Landesbeauftragte für den Datenschutz Niedersachsen).
2. Data processing carried out by social media platforms
We are not able to influence the data collected from you by social media platforms or the processing operations performed thereon, nor are we aware of the full extent of the data collection, the purposes of processing or the storage periods. In particular, experience shows that platform providers store your data as usage profiles and use them for purposes of advertising, market research and the needs-based tailoring of their platforms.
As far as we are able, e.g. by making settings and configurations, we work towards the handling of your personal data by the various social media platforms in accordance with data privacy requirements and the principle of data minimisation. Our influence over data processing by platform providers is, however, extremely limited.
More detailed information on data processing by social media platforms can be found in the data privacy policies of the respective providers:
