In recent years information security has come to be a decisive competitive factor in a dynamic, global work environment. Given the multitude of sensitive information within an insurance group, this topic is naturally of very great importance to Talanx. One of the special features associated with insurance companies is the high quality of their data, necessitating a commensurate level of protection.

The information security management system used at Talanx was recently recertified again in accordance with the internationally recognised standard ISO/IEC 27001:2013. This certification attests to the adequacy of the protection afforded to client, business partner and employee information and thereby sets the tone for successful and trusting cooperation. Talanx is one of the few companies in the industry to have carried this renowned quality seal since as long ago as 2013.

"We are constantly working flat out to adequately protect all our systems. Consistent authorisation management, central logging and a state-of-the-art security architecture, including among other things firewalls, demilitarised zones and system hardening, protect our IT against both internal and external attacks", Chief IT Security Officer Andreas Walz explains.

The Group Security team at Talanx is responsible for continuous improvement and monitoring of security standards and measures and it takes the role of enabler for digitalisation projects. In addition to managing information security risks, it also conducts ongoing awareness campaigns to make employees more mindful of information security considerations. The experts on the Talanx Group Security team are also invited to visit other organisations so as to pass on their know-how through presentations and workshops to interested parties seeking to adopt an even more professional approach to their own information security.
