Talanx and HDI Group promotes climate-friendly electromobility

For years, Talanx and HDI has been increasing the number of actions and initiatives that focus on making our Group more sustainable. How HDI is committed to climate-friendly electromobility:

Since November 2020 enercity's thousandth electric charging station has been in place outside the HDI Group's corporate headquarters in Hannover. In this way, HDI is making an active contribution to eco-friendliness and sustainability. Going as far back as 2017 customers, guests and employees have been able to top up their e-vehicles at altogether 19 charging stations available at HDI. By the end of this year HDI wants to double this capacity – entirely in keeping with our goal of operating with a net zero carbon footprint by the year 2030.

Chief Financial Officer Dr Jan Wicke and HDI Global Chief Executive Officer Dr Edgar Puls are already setting a good example, having taken part a few weeks ago in "Hannover is on the move – Rethinking mobility" – an initiative launched by the Region Hannover, the City of Hannover and Madsack Media Group. The campaign was designed to boost public awareness of alternative means of getting around (bicycle, e-mobility, carsharing and public transport) rather than the internal combustion engine. At the same time, the aim is to deliver impactful public messaging around the transition towards more climate-friendly mobility and cultivate public discussion of the topic.

Over a period of two weeks the two Board members committed to complete all trips of less than ten kilometres using transportation without an internal combustion engine. The initiative loaned them each an e-bike to help out. This turned out to be a perfect fit because Jan Wicke and Edgar Puls enjoy cycling to the office as often as possible – as long as the weather allows – even without the incentive of this campaign.
