Executive Board Members appointed for Retail Germany Division

Hanover, 22 March 2010
The Supervisory Board of HDI-Gerling Leben Serviceholding AG (HG LSH) has appointed new Executive Board members.

The background to these appointments is the restructuring of the Talanx Group from an organization based on lines of business to a customer-oriented structure. As already reported by the Group, a realignment is being implemented into divisions for domestic retail customers, for international retail customers, and for worldwide industrial customers. The Reinsurance Division will remain unchanged.

The Retail Germany Division is being created from the domestic private and SME companies responsible for the sectors Property/Casualty, Life and Bancassurance.

The future divisional executive board headed by Dr. Heinz-Peter Roß will have Iris Klunk (40), Jörn Stapelfeld (49) and Markus Drews (42) as new members from 1 April 2010. Peter Klingspor (46) has been Chief Financial Officer of HG-LSH since the end of 2009.

Roß is strengthening his team by appointing specialists with a long track record of experience. His mission within the scope of the strategic realignment of the Talanx Group is to increase the added value of the German retail business and win back market shares.

Klunk has been working in the Talanx Group since 1997 and is a Member of the Executive Board of Proactiv Holding AG where banking joint ventures are pooled. In future, she will be responsible for integration of the new Retail Group, as well as strategic corporate and organizational development.

Until 2009, Stapelfeld was a Member of the Executive Board of Generali Deutschland. As a former Chief Executive Officer of insurance group Volksfürsorge and subsequently the biggest single company of Generali in Germany, he has extensive experience with complex organizations. As Chief Operating Officer, he will have particular responsibility for the functions within the division covering operations and personnel.

Drews is currently Managing Partner of management consultant SMARTcompagnie. Previously, he held various management positions in the banking and insurance industry. His new portfolio of responsibility will be overarching management of the sales channels encompassing Tied Organization, Direct Sales and Broker Organization.

Klingspor came to the Talanx Group in 2004 and was responsible for establishing the Group Auditing Department within Talanx AG. His functions will focus in particular on efficient overarching controlling for the division, as well as accounting, investment and risk management.

As a further division, Marketing and Product Management – key areas for customer and market alignment – will be assigned shortly.

The previous Members of the Executive Board of Leben Serviceholding Michael Beetz, Wolfgang Rüdt and Udo Münstermann will leave the board on 31 March 2010 but will continue as Members of the Executive Board of HDI-Gerling Lebensversicherung and Aspecta Lebensversicherung.

Lüder Mehren, Chief Sales Officer of HDI-Gerling Leben Vertriebsservice AG will leave the company by mutual consent during the course of the year. “Mr. Mehren carried out outstanding work during integration and restructuring of the Group,” says Chief Executive Officer Roß. “We would like to take this opportunity to wish him every success in his continuing career and all the best for his personal future.” Mehren will hand his portfolio over to Markus Drews.
