With the take-over of the Gerling companies, which stand with just as long a history as HDI itself for experience and tradition in the personal lines and industrial insur-ance, the Talanx Group achieved a further objective: to be a balanced, international-ly operating group. The Group further strengthened its international line-up by purchasing or founding numerous companies abroad, e.g. the acquisition of the Turkish insurer Ihlas Sigorta A. S. in 2006 and the founding of Hannover ReTakaful, Bahrain.

Following a successful licensing process HDI-Gerling Industrie Versicherung AG is to write property/casualty insurance business with the Indian financing company Magma Fincorp, thereby substantially expanding the HDI-Gerling Global Network. HDI-Gerling is investing more than EUR 30 million in the joint venture, thus acquiring a 26 percent stake in the undertaking.
