The personal-lines business of HDI V.a.G. had already been split off to HDI Privat Versicherung AG in 2001, this was followed in 2003 by the spin-off of HDI Industrie Versicherung AG and HDI Service AG. The Talanx Group came into being, headed since August 2003 by Talanx AG. Today, HDI V.a.G. essentially functions as the parent company of the Talanx Group. It writes a quota share of one per mille of the business of HDI-Gerling Industrie Versicherung AG in order to continue operating in the form of a mutual insurance society.
